Chair Sit Escape
Escape from Back Mount: Sit-Up and Turn to Neutral
Key Steps
Step 1: Frame and create space
- From back mount, plant frames on their wrists or forearms to slow their chest control.
- Keep elbows tight to your ribs and head tucked to protect the neck.
Step 2: Sit up and post
- Bridge slightly, then sit up toward their far side while grounding with a posted hand on the mat.
- Use your near knee to start creating a barrier between you and their hips.
Step 3: Turn into the opponent
- Rotate your hips and chest to face their side; slide the inside leg between you to break the angle.
- Maintain frames as you advance so their hooks don’t reestablish.
Step 4: Establish a neutral position
- Finish with your hips close to their center and either a knee shield or half-guard setup.
- From there, you can re-guard, pass, or secure top control, depending on reaction.
