Triangle from Back
Back Mount Finishing Sequence
Key Steps
Setup and grip
- From back control with both hooks in, secure the seatbelt grip and stay tight to the opponent. Position your chest over their shoulder to limit escapes.
Thread and lock the legs
- Pivot your hips toward the choking side. Slide your near knee across the back of their head/neck and begin threading the opposite leg behind your knee to form the leg position around their neck.
Finish the choke
- Adjust the angle so your top shin rests on their neck while your bottom leg locks behind the knee to form a figure-four around the head. Squeeze hips and pull slightly to compress the carotids.
Application
- This is a versatile, step-by-step transition from dominant back control to a finish that works in both gi and no-gi. Use when you have a solid base and your opponent’s arm is available to trap; not beginner-friendly; ensure you can maintain control while finishing.
Mistakes
- Common errors include not controlling the head, losing back control, telegraphing hip movement, failing to isolate the arm, and improper leg positioning before finishing.
Tips
- Practice precise hip rotation to create the necessary angle; keep the choking arm tight to the chest; if the opponent stacks, switch to a different control instead of forcing the lock.
